(Brought to you by jat impatientreader.com) The man in the office continues to ask Wells questions about Chigurh, and tells him that Chigurh shot several men in the past few days. Wells asks before he leaves if he can come back up through the elevator; the man says he can't since it's coded to a separate number every day.

Wells heads to the hotel in Eagle Pass and stays in the hotel that Moss was in and that got shot up. A new hotel clerk is there, but is reluctant to answer Wells' questions. Wells goes up to his room, and then breaks into the room where Moss was in. He studies the bed and the bathroom, and then goes into the other room where Chigurh shot the man and studies that too.
The next morning, Wells walks around town and looks at all the building that had been shot at. He finds a building with an upper story that had been shot. He goes to the room where the bullets went in and finds a woman dead in a char, shot through the head.

In the next scene, Moss wakes up in a hotel and finds Wells next to him. Wells starts asking him questions, but Moss is not responding to them, and says that he's not afraid of who's coming after him. Wells continues to insist that Chigurh is dangerous, but Moss won't believe him or refuses to acknowledge that he's afraid. Wells gives him his card and tells Moss that dealing with him is probably much safer than dealing with Chigurh, and that if he waits too long it will be too late.

In the next section, Bell is thinking to himself again about how young people don't grow up as fast as they used to, and that all his contemporaries had jobs like being a deputy at the age of 18, or a priest at the age of 21. He thinks about how the grandchildren are raising a high percentage of children these days, and that he spoke with his wife about that. He then thinks again about how lucky he is to have her, and that she knows how to take care of him and the family.
