Series Description: (brought to you by kat impatientreader.com) The Lord John series is a spin-off from the author's best-selling Outlander series, a time-travel romance. Lord John was a minor character in that series, and its main character Jamie Frazier makes appearances in the Lord John series – to its detriment.  John is in love with the homophobic Frazier and there are way too many pages wasted Frazier and on John's unrequited love. Aside from that, readers get a detailed and vivid experience of life among the upper classes of Britain in the later 18th century, including army life during the ongoing wars between Britain and France.  Poor Lord John rarely gets lucky in love, but the book does give a fascinating look at the secretive gay culture of the time when homosexuality was considered a capital crime.

1. Lord John and the Private Matter (2003). Lord John investigates the death of a traitor and tries to prevent his innocent cousin from marrying a scoundrel.
